Spain's king, queen to visit Japan April 4-7
King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia will visit Japan for four days from April 4 as state guests to meet Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko in Tokyo, the Japanese government said Tuesday.
It will be the king's first visit to Japan since ascending the throne in 2014.
The Spanish royal couple will also meet Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during the visit, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said.
"I hope that the friendly and cooperative (Japan-Spain) relationship will be further promoted in various areas" through the visit, Suga told a press conference.
